Amongst the digestive parasitic infestations in dogs and cats, those c
oncerning spiruroidea and in particular Spirocerca lupi, occupy a spec
ial place. The clinical signs of spirocerca infestation can be very di
fferent, and be at the origin of complications such as tumours, aortic
rupture, ankylotic spondylitis or hypertrophyolitic osteoarthropathy.
The epidemiology and evolution of the parasite are original. Even tho
ugh they are rare in France, infections do exist and can mislead the c
linician.
