2 CHROMENES AND A PRENYLATED BENZOIC-ACID DERIVATIVE FROM PIPER-ADUNCUM

In addition to stigmasterol, piperiton, methyl 2,2-dimethyl-2H-chromen e-6-carboxylate, methyl -(2-hydroxy-3-methyl-3-butenyl)-4-hydroxy-benz oate and methyl )-2-trans-6-hydroxy-2,6-dimethyl-2,7-octadienoate, thr ee new natural products were isolated from Piper aduncum and character ized as methyl 8-hydroxy-2,2-dimethyl-2H-chromene-6-carboxylate, hyl-8 (3-methyl-2-butenyl)-2H-chromene-6-carboxylic acid and methyl y-3,7-di methyl-2,7-octadienyl)-4-methoxy-benzoate. The structures of all isola tes were elucidated by spectroscopic methods, mainly 1D and 2D NMR spe ctroscopy. The antibacterial, antifungal and molluscicidal activities of the isolates were also investigated.
