New monomers containing quinoxaline-2,3-diyl groups, viz., 2,3-bis(3-a
mino-4-chlorophenyl)quinoxaline and 2,3-bis-(3-nitro-4-aminophenyl)qui
noxaline, were synthesized by reducing or aminating 2,3-bis(3-nitro-4-
chlorophenyl)quinoxaline. Polyimides, which have not been described in
earlier papers, were obtained by the interaction of the first monomer
with dianhydrides of pyromellitic and benzophenone-3,3',4,4'-tetracar
boxylic acids. The interaction of the second monomer with dichloroanhy
drides of iso- and terephthalic acids in conditions of reducing polyhe
terocyclization gave new polybenzimidazoles, new compounds which have
not been described in the literature. It has been shown that the intro
duction of quinoxaline-2,3-diyl groups in the main chain of polyhetero
arylene macromolecules significantly increases the solubility of the l
atter in organic solvents.
