Gs. Agarwal et P. Hariharan, INTERFERENCE OF INDEPENDENT LASER-BEAMS AT THE SINGLE-PHOTON LEVEL - A FIELD-THEORETIC DESCRIPTION, Optics communications, 103(1-2), 1993, pp. 111-115
It has been shown experimentally that two independent laser beams can
interfere at light levels at which the probability of more than one ph
oton being present simultaneously in the optical path is negligibly sm
all. This letter presents an explicit description of these interferenc
e effects using the techniques of quantum-field theory. It is shown th
at the interference arises because the detected photon can come from e
ither of the two beams.
