Abstract
Degenerate four-wave mixing is regarded as a 4-4 wave transformer in a photorefractive medium. The transmission functions are determined by solving the coupled-wave equations with general boundary conditions ut ilizing a preliminary solution. A graphical solution is also found. A concept of photorefractive optical circuits constructed of the wave tr ansformers is suggested. The effect of optical tunneling is predicted based on the solution.
