K. Hoshi et al., WOUND-HEALING PROCESS IN THE PORTIO-VAGINALIS-UTERI AFTER CO2-LASER TREATMENT, Tohoku Journal of Experimental Medicine, 170(3), 1993, pp. 135-146
In order to determine the wound healing process in the portio vaginali
s uteri, [H-3]-thymidine incorporation and hydroxyproline concentratio
n in the granulation tissue were measured histochemically after CO2-la
ser treatment. As a result, the squamous epithelium showed the thymidi
ne uptake in extended regions in the first week and in basel cell hype
rplastic regions in the second week. The uptake was seen in the reserv
e cell hyperplastic regions of the epithelium from the 2nd week. Hydro
xyproline concentration peaks mostly appeared within one week after th
e laser treatment. After cryosurgery, the peaks mostly appeared after
two weeks or more. These results indicated that, the stromas and then
the squamous and columnar epithelial cells in tum were regenerated aft
er CO2-laser treatment, and that the regeneration occurred earlier aft
er laser treatment than after cryosurgery.
