Ab. Clayton et al., WATER IN URETHANE ACRYLATES .2. DYNAMIC-MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF WET URETHANE ACRYLATE NETWORKS, European Polymer Journal, 29(11), 1993, pp. 1467-1471
The effects of absorbed water on the mechanical properties of a series
of urethane acrylate polymers were determined by DMTA analysis. The d
ynamic mechanical behaviour of the wet polymers differed from that of
the dry networks, depending on the soft segment type and molecular wei
ght. The results are interpreted in terms of the distribution of water
within the polymer, with water poorly associated with the polymer for
ming freezable clusters or domains.
