Abstract
o(2,4-di-t-butyl-6-dimethylaminophenyl)phosphorane was prepared and wa s deselenated with tris(dimethylamino)phosphine to give the correspond ing phosphinothioylidene (thioxophosphine, thionophosphine, or phosphi nidene sulfide), for the first time, as a thermally stable compound, w hich is considered to be stabilized with the lone pair electrons of th e o-dimethylamino group.
