Abstract
The restrictions imposed by the functional anatomy of the finger flexo r muscles on the experimental design of P-31 MRS assessment of human f orearm muscle function employing surface coil localization and volunta ry exercise were investigated. It was found that P-31 MRS metabolic da ta of finger flexor muscle should be correlated with mechanical data o f combined flexion of only the ring and little fingers, rather than al l four fingers as has been commonly the case in previously reported st udies.
