Jp. Chalon et Wb. Johnson, SUMMARY OF THE SPECIALTY MEETING ON AIRBORNE RADARS AND LIDARS, Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society, 74(10), 1993, pp. 1909-1914
The Specialty Meeting on Airborne Radars and Lidars was organized by M
ETEO-FRANCE at its Centre International de Conferences in Toulouse, Fr
ance, from 7 through 10 July 1992. The purpose was to exchange informa
tion on the development of airborne radars and lidars, and on their ap
plication to geoscience. Other objectives were to stimulate cooperativ
e efforts among the laboratories working in the area, and to encourage
exchanges between the instrument developers and their potential users
. The meeting was timely, since important progress has been made in th
e last few years in airborne radar and lidar technology, as well as in
data analysis and applications. A large number of interesting and use
ful results about the development and use of airborne radars and lidar
s were presented. A preprint volume containing most of these results i
s available. A noteworthy feature of this meeting was the opportunity
it provided for the airborne radar and airborne lidar communities to m
eet and exchange information. A poster session was organized to allow
the presentation of works not exactly centered on the topics of the co
nference but concerning more or less similar developments.
