Jc. Cooper et al., ENHANCED SELECTIVITY IN FLOW-INJECTION ANALYSIS FOR L-AMINO-ACIDS USING ELECTRODIALYSIS WITH AMINO-ACID OXIDATION, Analytica chimica acta, 282(2), 1993, pp. 369-378
A method has been developed for continuous determination of the concen
tration of one amino acid in a mixture, using electrodialysis combined
with a flow-injection system. Using a non-specific L-amino acid oxida
se column and electrochemical detection of enzymatically produced hydr
ogen peroxide, the concentration of a particular amino acid in a mixtu
re could be determined by first performing a separation step using an
electrodialysis unit. Using the separation of arginine as a model syst
em, it was possible to determine the concentration of this amino acid
in the presence of two or three of a group of nine amino acids.
