Abstract
The exciton binding energy, as well as the two corrections which is du e to the electron(hole)-SO-phonon interaction, in free-standing quantu m-well wires with circular cross section is calculated by using of var iational solutions to the effective-mass equation. The unexpected resu lts are obtained: Although electron(hole)-SO-phonon coupling is much s tronger in Q1D systems, it has little influence on the exciton binding energy.
