Abstract
An extensive survey on the oribatid fauna of Kerala and neighbouring a reas revealed the occurrence of several new species. The preliminary s tudy on the biology indicates their potential in the biodegradation of the residues of higher plants, particularly materials of woody and le afy nature. In the present paper is found the description of a new spe cies of Meristacarus.
