Abstract
This study examined four models that explain resistance to affirmative action policies for women: self-interest, procedural justice, sexism, and ingroup favoritism. Greatest support was found for ingroup favori tism; when individuals had a favorable policy evaluation, they evaluat ed an applicant more favorably when that candidate was an ingroup memb er.
