RECENT ADVANCES IN THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE IMMUNOLOGICAL BASIS OF PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHIES

This article briefly reviews some recent advances in the understanding of the immunological basis of peripheral neuropathies. Peripheral neu ropathies associated with paraproteinaemia, though rare, have proven p aradigmatic, some of the insights gained being applicable to the more common Guillain-Barre syndrome.
