Abstract
A phytosociological analysis of the grassland vegetation of the footsl opes of the Heilbron-Lindley-Warden-Villiers area, northern Orange Fre e State, South Africa, was conducted. Releves were compiled in 37 stra tified random sample plots. A TWINSPAN classification, refined by Brau n-Blanquet procedures, revealed six distinct plant communities. A hier archical classification, plant-ecological description and ordination o f the plant communities are presented.
