Abstract
The N-fold Backlund transforms for degenerate two-photon propagation a re studied. Soliton solutions exist which are stationary excitations o f the medium without field (frozen solitons). A class of periodic solu tions describing an intermediate pulse steepening is discussed. The sy stematic use of Vandermonde-like determinants proves to be advantageou s.
