The complex UO2[Bu2NCO(CH2)2CONBu2] (NO3)2 has been prepared by extrac
tion method. The molecular and crystal structures of the complex have
been determined by four-circle X ray diffractometer. The crystal cell
parameters are found to be a = b = 3.3207 (8), c = 1.0711 (4) nm, alph
a = beta = gamma = 90. 00 (0)-degrees, V = 11. 811 (7) nm3, Z = 16, D(
c) = 1. 65 g.cm-3. The crystal belongs to space group I4(1)/alpha of t
etragonal system. The result. reveals that uranyl ion is coordinated t
o six oxygen atoms, four of them are from two nitrate groups and other
two are from two carbonyl groups of organic ligand. Two nitrate group
s are repulsed by seven membered ring to the one side, so the structur
e of hexagonal bipyramid with center of uranium atom is distorted.
