The kinetic properties and substituent effects of the oxidations of 17
mono- and bisporphinatoiron(III) compounds with PhIO are studied by U
V-Vis. The results show that the oxidations are second order for monop
orphinatoiron(III), and first order for bisporphinatoiron (III). We ha
ve found that there are the linear relationships between the reaction
kinetic constant k and the substituent constant sigma for mono-and bis
porphinatoiron(III), and the electronic effects of the substituents on
the porphyrin rings on the oxidation of mono and bisporphinatoiron (I
II) are different.
