Abstract
Cu/gamma-Fe/Cu multilayers have been prepared on cleaved NaCl (001) su bstrates by vacuum deposition. The structures and growth features are investigated by a combined use of RHEED and TEM techniques. The critic al thickness of the growth of gamma-Fe is estimated to be about 1.5 nm in a temperature range 20-100-degrees-C. The effect of RHEED electron s on the epitaxial growth of Cu and gamma-Fe films is also studied in detail.
