Abstract
Epitaxial Fe/Pt multilayers were deposited by sputtering onto (001) Mg O. Transmission electron micrographs demonstrate the orientation relat ionship Fe (001) parallel-to Pt (001) and Fe [110] parallel-to Pt [100 ] in the films. Annealing produces the tetragonal ordered compound FeP t with the magnetically easy c-axis oriented preferentially out of pla ne.
