Abstract
Elastic and structural properties in sputtered Ag/Co and Au/Co multila yers have been studied via Brillouin scattering and X-ray diffraction as a function of modulation wavelength. Softening of the Rayleigh soun d velocity due to interfacial strain has been observed for both of the as-deposited films. However the softening is very sensitive to the mo dification of the interfacial structure caused by thermal annealing.
