Abstract
Magnetic structure of Fe/RE multilayers (RE = Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, E u, Gd, Th, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb and Lu) was studied by Fe-57 Mossbauer s pectroscopy. Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy was observed in Fe/Pr, Fe/Nd, Fe/Eu, Fe/Dy and Fe/Tb multilayers. The mechanism of the magnet ic anisotropy is briefly discussed.
