The transverse thermoelectric effect in HTSC films was analyzed theore
tically concerning a plausible anisotropic electron-band structure whi
ch was supposed to be weakly binding in Cu - O layers and tightly bind
ing in the directions close to the c-axis. We have found interesting p
eculiarities in the effect value as a function of the Fermi energy in
the vicinity of the points which correspond to the boundaries of Brill
ouin zones along the c-axis direction. At the first-zone boundary the
effect is 5 times greater than its initial value. Then, if many zones
are taken into account, it demonstrates a nonmonotone behavior strongl
y depending on the band parameters (energy band widths and gaps) with
a possible change in the sign of the effect.
