Abstract
Dynamics of scattering in the classical model of alpha-cluster nuclei is studied in terms of transport theory. Behavior typical for hyperbol ic chaotic scattering is found, which results in an exponential decay of the survival probability. This allows a determination of the unitar ity deficit of the S matrix and thus the probability for compound-nucl eus formation.
