Abstract
A finite difference scheme using a zonal non-staggered mesh is employe d to compute the two-dimensional flow around a circular cylinder in a combined unidirectional and oscillating flow. The computations were ca rried out for a Reynolds number range of up to 5000 and a Keulegan-Car penter number range of up to 25. For such flows, the numerical solutio n successfully illustrated the eddy shedding and the impact of existin g eddies on the flow and the shedding process. (C) 1997 Elsevier Scien ce Limited.
