Abstract
The metabolic effect of crude and ethanol extracts of the root of Plum bago zeylanica was investigated in rats. The treatment of rats with cr ude Plumbago zeylanica and its ethanol extract resulted in an increase in the activities of serum lactate dehydrogenase, acid phosphatase an d liver alkaline phosphatase. The blood sugar concentrations increased significantly while liver acid phosphatase and total nucleic acids we re drastically reduced. (C) 1997 by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
