Abstract
Poled polymer films doped with novel non-linear organic materials, alp ha-cyano unsaturated carboxylic acid (alpha-CUCA) derivatives, are pre pared. Linear and second-order nonlinear optical properties are invest igated. It is found that as the value of hyperpolarizability of the de rivatives increases, the second-order nonlinear susceptibility of the film increases. Cerenkov-type second harmonic generation (SHG) of Nd:Y AG laser is realized in a poled polymer waveguide doped with the alpha -CUCA material with a slight absorption at doubled wavelength.
