Abstract
The aim of this paper is to analyse the stress levels in a composite c entrifugal fan impeller in a steady-state condition. In the solution p rocedure a cyclic symmetric approach is used, coupled with a modified Potter's scheme of solving simultaneous equations. This means less com puter time and memory are required. Two composite materials, namely gl ass-epoxy and boron-epoxy, have been studied Radial and circumferentia l fibre orientations are analysed. Maximum stress levels at different speeds have been calculated. Maximum deflections and factor of safety at 2000 rpm under both fibre orientations for the above materials are obtained.
