This study examined the relationship between approval motivation and s
exual daydreaming. College students were administered the Social Desir
ability Scale and the Sexual Daydreaming Subscale of the Imaginal Proc
esses Inventory. High-approval-motivated subjects reported significant
ly less sexual daydreaming than low-approval-motivated subjects. In li
ght of previous research, the present results are discussed in terms o
f the apparent discrepancy between the overt and covert sexual activit
y of high- and low-approval-motivated individuals.
