A brain stem infarction in the area of the nerve fascicle of the oculo motor nerve could be demonstrated by NMR to be the cause of a complete oculomotor nerve palsy in a patient with neurosyphilis. A second case presented the very rare finding of an isolated bilateral incomplete o culomotor nerve paresis with external paresis on the right and interna l paresis on the left side.
