WHOLE INTACT TISSUE ELECTROPHORESIS OF NERVE PROTEINS

We describe a rapid and simple method for analyzing proteins along the length of a nerve tissue using sodium dodecylsulfate-polyacrylamide g el electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). A long length of nerve tissue is placed on a slab gel, layered with SDS-buffer, and electrophoresed. In this whole-intact-tissue procedure, the in situ differences in location and /or concentration of protein along the length of a nerve tissue are no t disturbed by homogenization and dilution prior to electrophoresis.
