Retrospectively analyzed data of 41 patients with primary gastric non-
Hodgkin lymphoma which were all treated by gastric resection are prese
nted with regard to their histopathologic and clinical findings. 87% o
f the patients were distributed on stage EI and EII (51% high-grade an
d 49% low-grade lymphoma). RO resection was achieved in 80% of our cas
es and in 27% of the cases gastric resection was part of a multimodal
therapy. The median follow up of the living patients was 42 months, th
e overall 5-year survival rate 74%. Tumor stage, extent of surgical re
section, histologic grade, tumor site, RO-resection and tumor size sho
wed a significant prognostic influence on survival. The question wheth
er RO resectable cases benefit from an adjuvant therapy must be answer
ed by further randomized studies.
