Mcm. Andrey et al., SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF TRACE AMOUNTS OF TITANIUM IN GEOCHEMICAL AND METALLURGICAL SAMPLES, Analytical letters, 26(12), 1993, pp. 2649-2660
The reaction between cyclohexan-1,2-dione bissalicyloylhydrazone and t
itanium(IV) has been studied spectrophotometrically. An orange complex
(lambda = 470 nm, epsilon = 1.49 x 10(4) l.mol-1.cm-1) is quickly for
med at pH 1-2.5 in a 3+2 V/V ethanol/water medium. Interferences (more
than 65 species) have been investigated. In presence of some masking
agents most of metal ions do not interfere. The orange complex has bee
n satisfactorily used for the determination of titanium in amphibolite
s, granites, suspended matter, Portland cement, bauxite, cast iron and
duraluminium alloy. The results are compared with those obtained usin
g AAS and ICP methods.
