Single electron transfer induced elemental steps have been shown to oc
cur during the transformation of iodomalonic esters and related CH-aci
ds to cyclopropane derivatives under solid liquid phase transfer catal
ytic conditions. The iodo derivatives are formed from iodine and CH-ac
