Abstract
Acetalization of alpha-monosubstituted cyclopentanones with chiral hyd roxy thiols under equilibrating conditions afforded a mixture of aceta ls in a highly diastereoselective manner, and deacetalization of the p roduct affords optically active alpha-monosubstituted cyclopentanones.
