Abstract
Project Taking Charge is an abstinence-based intervention program for early adolescents designed to delay sexual intercourse and prevent tee n pregnancy. This article reports the evaluation results of a 6-month follow-up study involving adolescents from two of the original three p rogram sites. Many of the knowledge gains found at posttest were retai ned at follow-up. In addition, program participants were less likely t han comparison subjects to report the initiation of sexual intercourse within the 6 months following the program.
