B. Pflug et al., THE QUALIFIED OCCUPATIONAL DERMATOLOGICAL COUNSELING PROCEDURE AS PREPARATION FOR THE OCCUPATIONAL ILLNESS PROCEDURE, Dermatosen in Beruf und Umwelt, 41(5), 1993, pp. 165-171
To prevent and document the occupationally induced dermatology disease
s as well as quick clarification of the actual situation and cost achi
evement in the occupational doctor's procedure, an occupational illnes
s procedure similar to the accident doctor's procedure is desirable. T
he pilot project ''model for a qualified occupational illness counseli
ng procedure as preparation for the occupational illness procedure'' h
as clearly proven that such a procedure can reduce the amount of exper
ts opinions. With the timely introduction of preventive measures, the
appearance of compensatory occupational illnesses can be prevented. In
this pilot project, 33 patients were exposed and questioned according
to an occupational illness catalog (''Model of a qualified occupation
al dermatologic counseling procedure''), which is presented here. Fift
y cases were also reworked according to the older procedure, where dia
gnoses according to the dermatologist review, occupational illness rep
ort, expert opinion, and the decision of the state-trade-doctor vary i
mmensely. The state-trade-doctor often requires the experts opinion du
e to a lack of information in the dermatologists review and the occupa
tional illness report from which an insurance and medically sound deci
sion is not possible. In the new procedure, however the state-trade-do
ctor was able to make a decision according to the counseling doctor's
report in all but one of the 33 cases. The same is true for the questi
on of the occupational relevance.
