Quasielastic production of charmed baryons at protons has been studied
with the SKAT bubble chamber, exposed to a neutrino beam at the Serpu
khov U-70 accelerator. The results are reported. The first observation
of a SIGMA(c)++ baryon, with a mass M(SIGMA(c)*+++) = 2.530 +/- 0.00
5 +/- 0.005 GeV, is reported. Estimates are found for some reaction cr
oss sections: sigma(nup --> mu -SIGMA(c)++) = (2.3 +/- 2.0) X 10(-4) c
m2 and sigma(nup --> mu -SIGMA(c)++) = (4.5 +/- 4.0) X 10(-40) cm2.
