Abstract
A new genus and species of tubuliferan Thysanoptera is described, Doma tiathrips cunninghamii, which seems to be related to a group of moss-f eeding species. With an adult body length of scarcely 1 mm, all life s tages of the thrips were found living solitarily inside leaf domatia o f a Rubiaceous under-story rain-forest tree in Costa Rica. The literat ure on the significance of leaf domatia and their relationships to art hropods is discussed.
