A field experiment was conducted during 1989-90 and 1990-91 on the Inc
eptisol soil of Gwalior, to study the economics of mustard [Brassica j
uncea (L.) Czernj. & Cosson]-based crop sequences. The crop sequence o
f blackgram (Phaseolus mungo L.)-mustard gave the maximum net returns
of Rs 14.646/ha, followed by fodder sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moen
ch]-mustard (Rs 13,627/ha) and fodder pearlmillet [Pennisetum glaucum
(L.) R. Br. emend. Stuntz]-mustard (Rs 13,585/ba).
