The subject of this work is the dynamics of a flexible multibody syste
m modeled as a main rigid body (B0) connected to several flexible appe
ndages (B(i)) (i=1, . . ., n) in a Star Structure. The aim is to analy
ze the modes of the coupled system and the dynamical response in the f
requency domain to external forces and torques. A continuum approach i
s used for the modal analysis of each flexible appendage. This study e
nables us to construct the impedance matrix of the whole system, givin
g the external forces and torques exerted on the system in the frequen
cy domain, in terms of the displacements of the main body. The method
is used to obtain the modal analysis of a complex space station modele
d as a main body rigidly connected to two large solar panels and one f
lexible antenna.
