This paper describes the construction of a low-frequency (16 Hz) light
-flux modulator based on a magnetoelectric system with a magnetic spri
ng. The provision of frequency stabilization, the fact that the device
is not critical with respect to variations of the supply voltages, an
d its small size (18-mm diameter X 12 mm) and 5-g mass make it possibl
e to use the modulator in small portable instruments at ambient temper
atures from -10 to +40-degrees-C.
