Abstract
The solid solution compound films of (1-x)PZN-xBZN system were synthes ized by rapid quenching using a twin-roller system. These films have a thickness range 30-200 mum. The average grain size of thick films is 20-30 mum and the density is almost full. The phase of as-quenched thi ck films was slightly different from that in the crystalline powders b efore melting, but it was recovered after heat treatment. The chemical compositions were the same after quenching. The dielectric constant o f the composition of 0.88PZN-0.12BZN thick films was 8000 at room temp erature at 1 kHz. This result suggests a possibility of application of thick films made by rapid quenching to industrial use as high-permitt ivity multilayer capacitors.
