Abstract
CP3Co3(mu-H)4 (4) reacts with NO to produce CP*3Co3(mu3-NO)2 (3) whic h was characterized by X-ray crystallography. 3 is a diamagnetic 48 el ectron tricobalt cluster in which an equilateral triangular array of c obalt atoms (Co-Co(av) = 2.423(2) angstrom) is capped on each face by a mu3-NO ligand (Co-mu3-NO(av) = 1.863(7) angstrom).
