Treatment of two equivalents of 12,18-tetraethyl-3,7,13,17-tetramethyl
porphyrinato nickel(II), [Ni(DPE)-(NH-CO-py)2], with [M(DMSO)4](ClO4)2
in methanol produces trinuclear complexes, [Ni(DPE)-(NH-CO-PY)2]2M(Cl
O4)2 where M is Pd or Pt. The trinuclear Ni2Pd complex crystallizes fr
om CHCl3 to yield an octasolvate. An X-ray structure determination for
[NiO2N8C56H52]2Pd(ClO4)2.8HCCl3 was carried out. Crystal data are as
follows: monoclinic, P2(1/n) (No. 14), a = 14.378(7), b = 23.413(6), c
= 21.140(6) angstrom, beta = 105.30(3)-degrees, V= 6865(4) angstrom,
Z = 2, R = 0.076 and R(w) = 0.082.
