Abstract
A third multidrug transporter gene named bmr3 was cloned from Bacillus subtilis. Although Bmr3 shows relatively low homology to Bmr and Blt, the substrate specificities of these three transporters overlap. Nort hern hybridization analysis showed that expression of the bmr3 gene wa s dependent on the growth phase.
