Abstract
The X-ray crystal structure of Ph3Al.N(H2)t-Bu, I, has been determined . The title compound was prepared in high yield from reaction of Ph3Al with H2N(t-Bu) in hexane. Refinement of 813 observed reflections conv erged at R = 0.086. The Al-N bond distance is determined to be 1.98 (2 )angstrom while the aluminium atom has a distorted tetrahedral geometr y. Compound I represents the first structural characterization of a tr iarylaluminum-primary amine monomer. Moreover, the title compound exhi bits unusual thermal stability.
