J. Kofer et K. Fuchs, MONITORING ON RESIDUES IN MEAT .2. ENVIRO NMENTAL-POLLUTANTS (PB, CD)IN CATTLE KIDNEY, Wiener Tierarztliche Monatschrift, 80(9), 1993, pp. 264-267
In a survey conducted in the austrian federal state of Styria in 1991-
90 kidneys of cattle older than two years were analysed for the concen
tration of lead and cadmium. Lead content in all samples was lower tha
n half of the limit. The maximum permissible load for cadmium was exce
eded in 5 % of the cases (median 0.45 ppm). While there was a reductio
n of lead concentration compared to earlier investigations, no differe
nces in cadmium content were found. Regional differences for cadmium w
ere observed. A regulation should be released to restrict the consumpt
ion of liver and kidney of cattle older than two years.
