Abstract
A brief discussion of the natural occurrence and biological action of 2-styrylchromones is considered in this review; for these compounds an d their 3-isoanalogues a thorough description of the successful synthe tic strategies is presented. Structural characterization (nmr and mass spectra) and reactivity in Diels-Alder and photooxidation reactions a re other important features of 2-styrylchromones to be considered.
